Peter Rabbit Baby Shower

We were so excited when our oldest daughter and son in law announced they were expecting our first grandchild.  When we later learned at her gender reveal that we were eagerly anticipating a sweet baby girl…well…we were over the moon.

Plans with family and friends began to put together a baby shower for Lauren and her baby to be. We of course scanned Pinterest with fervor pinning so many baby shower boards. My daughter Lyndsay suggested a Peter Rabbit theme, before we knew we were waiting on a girl, but even after the gender reveal we stayed with that theme. However, we decided to make it a different than the traditional Peter Rabbit baby shower themes we were seeing on Pinterest. It was a little more on the elegant side and we actually did it on a pretty low budget.

Décor Details

This was the mama to be’s placesetting. She had a special bunny plate just for her that we picked up at Michael’s.
See those pretty cut glass goblets? Dollar Tree! Yep! $1 each and they still have them in stock.

One of the centerpieces for the long table. Just a clear vase with veggies and flowers added along with some fairy lights. We used fresh carrots with the tops still on for a little extra fun!

Down the center of the table we layered bagged moss from WalMart, a variety of bunnies from friends and some purchased at TJ Maxx, along with votive candles and fresh flowers in clear vases.

We recycled this wooden cabinet made by my husband for my daughter’s wedding to use for the shower favors. Little paper potting cups fill with moss and Peter Rabbit seed packets (DIY) and paper carrots for decor. Also had jars of handmade candy by a family friend.

Menu Highlights

We made individual cakes for each place setting rather than one large cake for the shower. We also made these little cake pedestals for each cake. The pedestals were easy to make…we found the round top and peg pieces at Hobby Lobby and Michaels and glued them together. The cakes were made from purchased lemon pound cake, cut with small biscuit cutters, layered with lemon curd and then covered in frosting. The Peter Rabbit themed picks in the top were found on Amazon.
Chocolate covered strawberry “carrots”. We used orange candy melts to cover the berries.
Mixing flowers and veggies helped us give that Peter Rabbit Mr. McGregor’s Garden feel.

The backdrop was ordered online and was a really nice thick backdrop. We took mini terra cotta pots, lined with parchment paper, filled in the bottom with ranch dressing then small cut veggies. A mixed salad was also on the menu.
