I love the Kentucky Derby. And every year the Derby falls near my birthday in May. I love everything about the Derby…the tradition, the hats, the menu, the thrill of the race. And it’s just so Southern! One day I will attend the Derby and celebrate my birthday with a fabulous hat and a mint julep in person.
My girls know I love the Derby and this year they planned the perfect Derby birthday party. They planned and cooked the entire menu, made all of the décor and invited family and friends for a perfect party! Check out all of the details below. I’m working to get all of the recipes from them to share! I loved that they did everything themselves…it was amazing and they say they are going to make it a yearly tradition. I’m in!
Some of the décor..they made the jockey shirts that lined the walkway outside. For the drink stirrers they ordered plastic horses, sprayed them gold, then glued them to the top of straws.
The menu included cucumber sandwiches, pimento cheese, fruit, cupcakes with red roses of course, and so many other yummy goodies!
We all dressed up in our Derby finest to celebrate! It was our sweet granddaughter’s first Derby…she was one month old!
