As we see the news cycles of the invasion of Ukraine, it may be easy to turn away. It’s so far away and we may not completely understand all that is happening across the world from us.
But just one look at the mothers and fathers trying to get their children to safety…just one look at the video of Christians sheltering in a subway singing hymns and Christian songs…mothers being rushed to bomb shelters as they are in labor…should jerk us into reality that they are like us. Can you imagine if it were us?
It can also seem like we are helpless to do anything. But we have the greatest weapon available…prayer. Prayer knows no boundaries, no limits. And our God is not contained. Our prayers for the people of Ukraine is the most powerful thing we can do for them.
So as you pray today for your children, your families…include a prayer for the people of Ukraine. Pray for God to be with them and for them to feel his peace and strength. Pray for their safety. Pray for this war to end. And maybe we should all add a prayer of gratitude that we are not in the middle of the terror as they are.
