We are not meant to get the glory. We are meant to give the glory. For those who do and work and give and need a pat on the back now and then that’s a tough one. Our human nature seeks acceptance and a thank you now and then doesn’t it?
And sometimes those needs can even drive why we do things. Even at church. Even when it’s for the Lord. But that is not why we were created. That is not why we were given the gifts that we have. God created us for His glory. Not ours. We are human and He knows that. And maybe someone’s gift is actually to lift others up and show them love and appreciation when they serve.
But we aren’t to seek it ourselves. We are to work and serve and give to lift Him up. To draw others to Him. To put the attention on our reason for serving and giving….not our acts of service. It’s about our heart’s posture. And sometimes it takes some quiet time to do a heart check on why we are doing what we are doing. Just remember we are to use our gifts and talents to GIVE Glory not seek it. God will take care of the blessings in return.
