“A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for.- John Shedd
I have been reading lately about Esther in the Bible and thinking of the characteristics of courage. We see so many people in our daily lives who are courageous. In big ways but also in their every day lives. The private courage it takes to take the next step, to walk away, to share their testimony, to face a hard diagnosis…every day we all face challenges that call for courage.
Esther had reasons to not show courage…to not step forward…so much was at stake.
But she did step outside her safe spot to take action. She was indeed courageous.
God calls us to step out of our comfort zone daily. Sometimes with a whisper and sometimes with a loud call to action. When fear tells us to play it safe, God calls us to choose courage and step outside our safe spots. But when He calls us He doesn’t leave us to succeed or fail on our own. He goes before us.
He knows what we fail to acknowledge sometimes…He has already equipped us for what He is asking us to do.
We aren’t guaranteed success when we are courageous. But we will never have the chance to have an impact or change our surroundings if we don’t move outside our comfort zones.
What is something God is calling you to do that will require you to step outside your comfort zone?
I encourage you today to listen to God’s call and to step out in faith and courage. No matter how big or small, God is calling you…He is calling you to step forward into the purpose He has for you. Answer.
