There will be a day when you are asked to bring an appetizer. For some reason it is always hard to come up with an idea that everyone doesn’t always bring. I love bringing foods to parties that are a little different and that friends would enjoy trying. This is another Pinterest find from Meatloaf and Melodrama This recipe is familiar for anyone at a party, I mean who hasn’t had a meatball at a party? But they have a little twist and I have a way of dressing them up to make them feel a little more fancy. This is another easy recipe that everyone will love and will want your recipe.
You start off with some pre-cooked frozen meatballs — You can use your favorite recipe for homemade meatballs, or you can buy them from the store — just make sure that they’re fully cooked. I buy the Italian style frozen meatballs for a little more flavor.
You put them into a slow cooker — you can easily double the recipe if you have a larger Crock Pot.
Then, you add some orange marmalade and cranberry sauce, plus the remaining ingredients, stir, and cook on high for two hours. After that, you can let the meatballs simmer on low until you’re read to serve them.
Ingredients
- 20 frozen meatballs (can use homemade or your favorite brand)
- 1 can jellied cranberry sauce
- 1/2 cup orange marmalade
- 1 tablespoon dried minced onions
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or non-stic cooking spray
Instructions
-
Add olive oil to slow cooker, or use non-stick cooking spray
-
Add meatballs, and top with remaining ingredients
-
Stir to coat meatballs, cover and cook on high for 2 hours. Turn heat to low until ready to serve
That’s it. It’s so easy…and they really are delicious!
To fancy them up a bit, you can do a couple of things. For one party I just bought the black plastic coffee stirrers, cut them off a little bit, and then stuck them in each meatball. Great for grabbing them from a tray and easy for a casual get together.
A little more fancy option is what I did for a wedding shower. I bought “fancy” toothpicks like these, and then skewered fresh sugar snap peas on them then stuck them in each meatball. (See in the photo above).
Enjoy!
